Welcome to
The Practitioner
-
This course is specially designed for those who need to work with PICs, either through the design, fabrication, or packaging of devices, engineers and technical staff working in other areas such as RF.
-
The course will require travel to Southampton and Torbay for a total of five in-person training days with additional online content. Practitioners will be required to engage with content in their own time.
-
Whilst prior experience in photonics is desirable, it is not essential for this practitioner stream.
What will you gain?
-
An understanding of where PICs can be deployed, their advantages and limitations.
-
An appreciation of PIC components and the ability to produce de-risked designs within foundry fabrication rules.
-
An intuitive feel for the operation of passive PIC circuitry through hands-on guided lesson plans.
-
An ability to translate simulated designs into a GDS format accepted by PIC foundries.
-
Hands-on PIC fabrication and packaging skills.
